Rosacea is a common dermatologic condition that creates redness and flushing of the skin. More advanced cases can produce inflamed pimples and dilated blood vessels. Factors that exacerbate or worsen the condition are called ‘triggers’ and include alcohol, spicy food and heat (including hot showers and sunlight exposure). Emotional stress can also be a trigger in some individuals.
While rosacea is a systemic condition, it has been traditionally been treated with topical medications. Phototherapy using BBL™, however, can be tremendously effective in managing the symptoms of mild to moderate rosacea alone or in conjunction with prescribed topical medications, along with avoiding known triggers. Treatments are typically 30 minutes and a series of 2-3 is usually required.
